Latest news - Thursday 14th August

Things have taken a really bad turn, with several adults going missing over the last two weeks. I have seen a sparrowhawk perched on the guttering over one of the nests, and piles of feathers on both the front and back lawns lead me to conclude that at least two of the birds have been predated.
Also, the weather has been terrible, so that finding food for the three broods would have been very difficult.

FS - Three eggs hatched on 29th/30th July. Since August 7th, only one parent has been roosting in the nest, and I am not sure if the other bird is still around. The chicks continue to be fed regularly, and are making plenty of noise, so I am hopeful that they will be OK.

SDL - The first brood of three chicks successfully fledged, and a second brood consisting of three eggs hatched on 21st July.
Two of the three chicks seem to have fallen out of the nest, and were nowhere to be seen, so I have to assume that they were predated. The third chick died when both parents went missing.

SDR - Three eggs hatched on 24th July, and the fourth on 25th July.
Both parents also went missing from this nest, and I took the abandoned brood to St Tiggiewinkles animal hospital.

FDL - Four chicks were evicted from the nest, before they were really ready for fledging. The nest has been unused since.

FDR - Empty
